FREQUENCIES
This is a crucial aspect to consider is how often each task is to be performed. Frequencies standards & costs are interlinked. This more often a specific task is performed the more man-hrs have to be allocated over a period & thus higher will be the cost of cleaning will be. The less often the task is performed the lower the cost & possibly the lower the standards achieved. A too high frequency can result in a lower standard & even higher cost factors effecting.
- Type of area
- Type & Condition of Surface
- Type & number of people using the area over a period of time i.e. user density.
- Functions of the area & activities taking place.
- How often the area is used & when
- What type of soil present
- How much soil is transported to the area & by what means
- How far has soil been transported location of area?
- The degree of infection risk
- The standard which must be achieved.
- The amount of money available.
In normally convenient to establish the frequency for each task on each surface in each area in terms of daily, weekly & periodic tasks which range from fortnightly, monthly quarterly, six monthly, annually for housekeeping purposes an annual cycle is the norm, although redecoration & upgrading schemes may be organized on two or three year cycle.
Once the area cleaning inventory lists have been prepare, the frequency for cleaning & maintenance of each item should be established generally items need to be cleaned daily, bi-weekly & weekly, monthly & so on examples of daily service in lobby area would be window sills plants could be dusted twice a week, the water fountain polished once a week, the air vents on the wall once a month & so forth. Besides cleaning items on a regular basis, most areas are deep-cleaned once or twice a year. In this case the cleaning crews scrape & scrub every nook & corner until all surfaces are spotless. Deep cleaning projects generally coincide. With low occupancy periods & co-coordinated with repairs being done in the area by engineering dept. An example of a frequency schedule of lobby is as under.
Surface in each area in terms of daily, weekly & periodic tasks.
Item/ | Activity | Frequency
1 | surface | ||
Carpet | vaccumed | daily | |
Furniture | duster | daily
2 | Furniture | Polished | weekly |
chandelier | duster | Bi- monthly
lamps | Dusted | daily | |

However whatever the schedule is all staff must be trained to remove stains & marks as & when they occur so that they do not become ingrained & permanent.
To ensure the regular cleaning procedure are carried out cleaning & maintenance card must be kept for each section to record cleaning schedules. These are usually operated on a yearly or a 12 week basis an example is.
